Sri Thallapaka Annamacharya

Significance
The 600th Annamacharya Jayanthi celebrations were completed in Rajampet on 22nd May 2008. The Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh, Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy unveiled the 108 feet statue of Sri Thallapaka Annamacharya located on Tirupati-Kadapa bypass road in Rajampet on May 22nd.

History
Sri Tallapaka Annamacharya (1408 - 1503) is an Indian writer and performer generally viewed as the Telugu pada kavita pitaamaha (Grand old man of straightforward verse). A vigorous fan of Lord Venkateswara of Tirupati, AP. Annamacharya(also known as Annamayya) effectively created more than 32,000 krithis (a Carnatic organization) in the carnatic music custom, an accomplishment which is close difficult to duplicate! They were discovered engraved on copper plates which were covered up for a considerable length of time inside the Sri Venkateswara sanctuary at Tirumala.

Annamacharya thought about his pieces as flower offerings to God. In the sonnets, he applauds Venkateswara, depicts his adoration for him, contends and squabbles with the Lord, admits the enthusiast's disappointments and misgivings, and surrenders himself to Venkateshwara. His melodies are grouped into Adhyaatama and Sringaara samkirtanaas.

Annamacharya was conceived on Vaisakha Suddha Pournami in the year Sarwadhari (May 9, 1408) in Tallapaka,Rajampet (Mandal) a remote town in Kadapa locale of Andhra Pradesh, India. Rajempet, which is my local place. He lived faultlessly for a long time until Phalguna Bahula Dwadasi (twelfth day after full moon) in the year Dhundhubhi (February 23, 1503).

His child Chinna Tirumalacharya wrote Annamacharya’s history. He was well known Chinna Tirumalacharya states that Purandara Dasa met Annmacharya and the similar in the pallavi Saranu Saranu Surendra Vandita and Saranu Saranu Surendra Sevita, in that order by the two composers; both in Palavi tone are presented as internal evidence.Tallapaka Tirumalamma or Timmakka  was a famous Telugu poet who wrote Subhadra Kalyanam in Telugu.She was wife of eminent singer-poet Annamacharya and was popularly known as TimmakkaShe is measured as the first Telugu woman poet. She was born into a Brahmin's family.
